Is it necessary to remove the previous version of this before installing the latest edition? The instructions seem a bit ambiguous about this.

I would uninstall it first.

Then run this Norton Removal Tool to make sure it is fully removed

Norton can have a habit of leaving bits of code lying around so best to run the removal tool.

unless Norton have improved you may get further advise on here about free fire walls, anti virus and spyware if you require just ask hth Tez

When installing the newer version, Norton shoild recognise that there is an old version in place and ask you whether you would like to remove it!!!
