Assuming this is a genuine copy of Outlook / Office, then it may be that you are typing the number incorrectly. Incidentally, activating one of the Office products (e.g. Excel, Word etc) should activate them all.
Also, sometimes the numbers can be difficult to read e.g. sometimes a 'B' can be almost indistinguishable from an '8'.
Where did you buy the product?

Best thing for a windows disc, of any description is to insert it into a paper shredder :)
I've had similar issues like this before, re-installing was the only thing that resolved the problem. I might be wrong but I'm sure they have changed the font for the activations to make them easier to read. Have you considered using software to locate your product key located (encrypte) in the registry then just copy and pasting into office, can't be any typos that way.
