USB: Why is it?
Why is it that if you have an assortment of different USB and Firewire leads, and you coil each one neatly and place them in a drawer, when you want a particular one, not only are they all tangled up together with a bunch of phono, jack, and video leads that you know you didn't put there, but also the one that you really need RIGHT NOW, is missing?

All labelled and tidy [too much time on my hands!]
Result, daughter forages thru box and they're a mess again. If the one you want is always at the bottom, if you start all the botom of the pile, it's never there. Today's version of the odd sock in the dryer!

Like most families we have bought all sorts of electrical stuff over the last few years (camcorders, mobile phones, digital cameras, computers, TVs, games consoles, stereo systems etc etc).
There is ALWAYS a couple of cables extra you dont need, so I throw them in a box in my office at home.
This box is now overflowing with cables, most of which I have no idea what they are for.
Sometimes I am tempted to throw the lot away, but no doubt the day after I do that I will need one of those cables. S*ds law eh!
So they just sit there in my office gathering dust.
