I am running win. IE and just lately anything on the net seems to be slowing down, I have run virus
and malware checks with nothing found but somebody told me to delete my "temp Internet files" but how do I do that & will this harm the way this computer is set up? I should point out that I am a total
novice at computing.

Most people around here (myself included) would suggest that you use a decent browser instead of IE. Firefox is the most popular:

However, to answer your question, go to Tools > Internet Options.
You'll probably find that the 'General' tab is already selected. If not, click on it.
Under 'Temporary Internet Files' click 'Delete files'
(Those instructions relate to IE6. There might be minor differences in later versions of IE but you should still be able to find what you're looking for).

Chris
go to start --> click run--> type %temp%-->press enter
a window will popup and select all and delete it
