When I turned my p.c. on last night there was a BIG warning from zone alarm saying that a malicious trojan has just been found which could access bank accounts etc. and that their fire wall wasn't enough to protect my computer, it sounded very scary, saying how fast it spread etc. and to upgrade immediately. I turned everything off and expected to find it today when I came back on, but nothing! It certainly looked genuine (but who knows?) so I wondered if anyone else on AB got it, but I can't find any mention of it. Any advice please? rosy

Sounds like a fake warning to me, not from Zone Alarm.

I would download malwarebytes (free version), install it, update it, then run it with a full scan (not quick scan)

Thank you VHG I did download malwarebytes as you suggested, thank you, it kind of whizzed across, said thank you for downloading it and now I can't find it anywhere??Didn't ask me to install it or anything. What happens now please? rosy
It may be in your download folder.

I have just seen from another forum that this may have been a genuine "advert" from Zone Alarm in an attempt to get people to pay money for upgrading Zone Alarm.

Seems after a reboot or two you dont get the message from ZA anymore.

If that is the case then I think you can safely ignore it.

Thank you VHG, glad to hear it, and yes it has only appeared once. You are right, malaware is in my download, I will install it anyway as a precaution. Thank you again, rosy
