A friend of mine has a Word document (2007 I think) and has managed to somehow 'lock' the text and everything else in it.
Is there a simple way to 'unlock' this as she can't edit the text - she can move the cursor around the document, but can't type anything new?
I'm not sure if it was previously created in Word 2003, and I can't find a Tools'-like' menu in her Word 2007. I'm pretty sure it's 2007 and she uses Vista.
Very many of the top menu options are 'greyed out' and I don't have her laptop or copy of the document to hand right now. Will probably see her tomorrow though.

Any help would be appreciated.

The document has been protected. This is under the Daveloper ribbon.

If it isn't showing, turn on the Developer ribbon in the Word Options. Click the round Office button to find the Options button.

Ah, plus I've just tried to protect a document of my own and not managed it - via the Help bit, it seems that, as she's recently installed Word on her laptop - I recall she's skipped through entering the product key to activate it. that would be a good first step then!

Thanks again, will sort.
