Bit difficult without much more information.

Has it worked recently, and have you changed anything (moved it around, added hardware etc)?

Is it a desktop or laptop?

When you say it switches on, do the fans come on and do you get any lights?

Do you get ANYTHING on the screen (while it boots up)?

Some things it COULD be is:

Power supply failed
Dead screen/monitor
Screen cable fallen out (if it is a desktop)
Graphics card failed

But as I said, we need more info to do some proper problem determination.

Have you tried removing the new disk. the computer will boot as far as the splash screen without it.

and if it works, are you sure you plugged the ribbon cable in the correct way round, the side with the red stripe goes closest to the power connector.
