A general question really. I was just about to start a defrag, and my disk defrag page says that it is run every Wednesday at 0100. How is this possible please, since my laptop is not switched on at that time. Or, is it saying 'if I was turned on I would defrag at that time'.

If it was turned on, it would perform the task.

Also, if you're starting a defrag, disable your screensaver, they have been know to cause the defrag to 'hang up' if they start whilst you're defragging.

I started this at 2230 last night, and its still running now. I know it can take 'minutes to hours' but is there any way I can see the progress? On my older PCs a graphic used to be showm.

Also - can the task be done in segments, ot if it is stopped will is always revert to the beginning.
There should be a pause button. But generally it is best to let it complete.

No need to defrag once a week. Just do it once a month.
If you are running Vista or Win7, its scheduled to defrag at that time. If your PC is not powered on at that time, it defrags the next time you switch it on. The problem however is that since it lacks the graphic display its impossible to make out how much of the defrag is complete. Besides it also doesnt defrag fragments larger than 64MB. If need, check out alternative defraggers that have better features.
I use the Piriform Defraggler, you can see it working. Same Company as CCleaner
Would this help me with my caches in the question above this one?
