How do you get rid of windows messenger. One of my grandchildren has downloaded the latest verson and since then the computer has been running very slowly, freezing from time to time as well. It never did this before. Could the two things be connected. I never use messenger so would like to get rid of it. Trouble is, it doesn't show up in the list of programmes when I go into add or remove programmes. I don't want to go deleting things from the system unless I am certain I'm not removing anything vital. Can anyone help.

Well that link makes it look complicated!

Just remove windows live essentials from add remove programs (or programs and features) in the control panel.

Thanks for that, I think windows live essentials does show up in the programme list but wasn't sure if removing that would affect anything else. Incidentally, is the facebook live chat facility connected to having live messenger installed. Presumably if so then the live chat wouldn't work.
If your grandchildren use your computer a lot maybe create their own user account which is set to "restricted". They won't be able to install anything.
