Norton anti virus
On my previous computer with Window XP and Outllok Expres, in the mail function there was a Norton icon where suspect mails would go and I could select if they were spam or not. Now with Wndows 7 and using Windows Live Mail this icon appears to be no longer present. Does anyone know if it should be there and if so, how I can get it. Thanks for any help.

Did you get Norton with your new computer. Mine came with a 30 day trial Norton that was all. I removed it and installed Kaspersky.

"Before installing Microsoft Security Essentials, we recommend that you uninstall other antivirus software already running on your PC. Running more than one antivirus program at the same time can potentially cause conflicts that affect PC performance."
No sorry me neither. Not used Norton's for the last few PCs. Don't suspect e-mails go to the Windows Live junk mailbox ? Not that I've any experience of Windows Live. Usually an AV will interface with your e-mail client to mark & move suspect e-mails somewhere.

Thanks O_G for confirming what I had heard about conflict between two AV programmes.

Hi BJS...Having now set-up your computer so that there is not any conflict between AV programmes, I would be interested to know if your problem has been solved.
Unfortunately, I know nothing about Windows Live Mail. I guess it is somewhat different to the straightforward Windows Mail which is in my computer and which I have programmed to put all e/mails from AB Threads into my Junk Folder; so that a dozen or more can be deleted with a single mouse click.

Sorry SENIOR moment pressed wrong key. What I was abot to say was, in OE previously, there was a Norton folder and any incoming mail suspected of being Spam would automatically be put in there and by using the Norton icon on the OE toolbar could change the mail to Spam on not. I now have a Junk folder and occasionally a mail is directed there but no sign this is done by Norton. As regards to which is the best Anti-Virus programme I chose Norton as it is the Which Best Buy
mine is Windows 7 Home Premium . and when I switch on my computer it says internet protected mode on. I have had this system ever since I bought this computer and was told that I would not need any other antivirus as this comes automatically with windows 7.and is a lifetime guarantee with windows 7.

I can't speak with authority on this, but it seems to me this Internet Protected mode is merely a protection from some Internet risks. I wouldn't like to dispense with a decent AV app simply because I had it.
But maybe one of the more knowledgeable contributers will post soon ?
