or a general problem with internet. You click on a question to answer, it doesn't work, or is so slow that its impossible to say it will start. Then tried posting an answer to one question 4 times, no go. I also posted a question, or tried, and it just came up with a blank page. It wasn't anything contentious. Plus people's avatars including mine keep disappearing.

could it be Firefox, you go into mail, or anything, and the connection button goes around, so seems like it connecting, but nothing.
May be your connection. What other sites have you tested?

Possibly connection, but now run firefox, as preferred browser, on advice from a number of people on AB. You click on anything, try google, and the connection circle goes round and round, and nothing happens. I logged out, and back in, but it made no difference, and now lost half the AB, where it says latest posts, completely blank, now its reappeared, and that keeps on happening
Interesting. We're monitoring the situation as there have been a few reports of this kind of thing recently. Might be time to have the techies go in a tidy up/optimize some of the new features.

All the best,

Ed

confess its frustrating as you go to post a question, or answer one, and nowt.
okay today but it was very slow a couple of days ago, and the site seemed to vanish altogether around 1.30am whatever browser I tried. But perhaps that was just housekeeping time.
Firefox can be very slow depending on how it's been set up.

You could try Chrome if you're having loading time troubles. Chrome has a very sticky cache which is why it can load pages so fast - you might find this speeds up all browsing across the board.

Also, you are using tabs aren't you? You're not opening a new FF window every time you want another page?

haven't had any problems with firefox since installed a few months back.
so don't want to change particularly. Also lose half the page, when it's trying to connect, the lastest post box just disappears. Also when trying to open a link, the connection button, just goes around, and then the page goes completely blank. Also many people's avatars are not there, just a blank.
Not opening lots of windows, just trying to ask a question or two and maybe look, answer, the latest post box, has gone again. When you to the box to submit answer, it is taking an age to do so, or doesn't go.
I have experienced some of your problems em10, but have put that down to both my internet connection speed (I'm on a dongle) and high traffic.
actually, it's slowed down a bit for me now. Not terrifically slow, not as slow as yours em10, but slower than other websites.
I've asked the techies to let me know if there is a likely cause.

actually, sacrificing a techie by disembowelling him/her on an altar in front of a server has long been seen as a good way to appease the internet gods.

no, rebooting's not enough, they need to be deleted. Of course all the ABers simultaneously hitting vvv might crash the internet.

no idea what is going on, but this has not just got slower but i lose the connection to sites im looking at, not just AB. Just it need some sort of clean up, not even sure how that's done.
if it's not just AB then it's probably in your computer. I'll leave it to wiser people to suggest how to deal with it.
