Laptop keeps freezing

My laptop keeps freezing, it comes on o.k. but as soon as I go into something the (mouse arrow ) disapears and it freezes. Then I switch it off and back on,
and it says one of your discs need to be checked for consistency.
Then it proceeds with 1 to 3 checks, boots up and sign in again, to start all over, go into a site and it freezes again, have I got a trojon or virus.......

So what you actually mean is that it freezes when you run your web browser.
The message about the disk check is nothing to do with the actual problem - that's caused by the fact that you are turning the machine off without going through the shutdwon process.

So that leads us to a number of questions:
Which browser and which version?
Any addons installed?
Which Operating system?

Thanks for your reply, I have Int Ex 8 and Firefox, I don't know about add ons, & Vista,
