Hi - can some kind soul please talk me through uninstalling Firefox 12 and going back to previous version FF11, I had got the setting somehow on automatic updates, it updated to FF12 and I just hate this latest version, it has slowed everything down. When I submit a reply on AB it takes forever to appear in the Latest Posts and when on ITVplayer the videos keep stopping (buffering?) and I can't watch anything - is that the same problem do you think? I have cleared out all my temporary files but it makes no difference. Ta muchly for any "idiot guide" advice!

In XP (or earlier) go to the Control Panel [from the Start menu] and then double-click on Add or Remove Programs. Click on 'Mozilla Firefox 12.0' and then on Remove.

In Vista or 7, you can do the same via 'Programs and Features'.

Then download and install Firefox 11.0 from here:

Ah thanks a lot Chris we know we can always rely on you! I actually was half way there - I was just looking for FireFox in Add/Remove progs but couldn't find it then realised of course it came alphabetically under the "M's" as Mozilla Firefox, that's why I couldn't see it!! So have uninstalled it and decided to try Internet Explorer again (I always used to be on this) just to see if it quickens things up, if not, I will install FF11 using your instructions. Many thanks :)
Re the buffering problem, I have just read in a magazine that it could be caused by Firefox's Session Restore feature which is set to back up tabs every 10 - 15 seconds, especially if you have a lot of tabs open.

You can change this by typing
about:config
in the address bar (not search bar). When it opens, type
browser.sessionstore.interval
in the search box.

It will be set to 10,000 or 15,000. Double click to change the value to between 200,000 and 300,000. Save and close the tab.

It will do no harm to try, and you can always change it back.
This post is just to see if Hc4361's suggestion works.
Nope, sorry, it didn't (using a value of 250000)
Ann, do yourself a favour, download and install Google Chrome. I was running Firefox 5 and was quite happy with it, but having seen other ABers extolling the virtues of Chrome I gave it a go. With the adblock add-on the increase in speed compared with Firefox is very noticeable. Give it a try, you'll be amazed. If you don't like it you can always revert.
Chris, did you test it for the buffering or the refresh?

Thanks for trying, by the way.
I simply looked to see if my post showed up straight away (without refreshing). I've not had any buffering problems with FF12 anyway.
Thanks, Chris, my post specifically refers to the buffering

Thanks mates - I did as Chris suggested and went back to Internet Explorer but haven't tried I-player yet to see if the buffering problen still exists. I did try Google Chrome Mike but it was a long while ago - may be better now. I also have lost my Ebay alerts .................
