The font sizes on the template I've been sent are too small for me to read easily. Cell size is not a problem, but I'm unable to find out how to increase the size and style in the wide horizontal box where information keyed into cells also appears.

You can change the default font size that Excel uses for all the bits that it controls by clicking on the File tab, selecting Options, and in that General options that are displayed there is the When creating new workbooks section where you can change the font size for controls - that's in Excel 2010, prior to that you should find the Options in the Tools menu.
Increase the size of the document if you've been sent a template, to say 125%, see if that helps.

Thanks bibblebub. It worked fine.

Boxtop. To increase size as suggested would mean more to-ing and fro-ing L - R.
