Facebook Notifications

I used to get notifications by email on my Hotmail account, that I had a message on Facebook to read. Now suddenly I'm not getting them anymore.
(I found I had a message on Facebook waiting for me to read it, for three days, and it was an important one). How can I get messages sent to my email account again? I check my emails every day. I really don't want to go on to Facebook at all unless there's something there for me. PS I have asked people not to contact me that way, but to no avail. So that is why I need notification to email address again. Thank you.

Top right, by your name. Click the little cog thingy, select Account Settings then Notifiications.

Thank you Wyedyed. I just looked at my Hotmail account just now and notifications are back on there, they came back by themselves (weird). But now I know how to get them back should they disappear again. Thanks again Mamyalynne and Wyedyed.
