Bt Email Address
I am with Talk Talk for my phone and broadband. I have a @btinternet.com email address. I keep getting emails telling me to sign up for BT to be able to keep my email address after 14th April - is this genuine? I don't want to change from Talk Talk and as I don't pay BT for anything how does this work? I do want to keep my @btinternet.com email address. Help - confused.com

I used to have a BT e-mail address years ago and when they started charging me for it once I took internet service from elsewhere (but kept my landline with BT) I decided it was time to give it up before entering into an escalating disincentive. The worst thing is that BT do not "bounce" invalid addresses so anyone trying to contact you at an out-of-date BT address will not have the message returned and therefore expect you to react to their message (which you never get).
Not quite. I think the reason is that BT are moving their email accounts from BT Yahoo Mail to BT Mail. They are asking that if you want to carry on using your BT email address, you register that fact with them and then they know which ones to include when the move takes place. I had the same email months ago. It seems it's taking longer than first planned.

I would agree with Angie - BT are in the process of moving from the current host, Yahoo, to BTMail, and are therefore notifying all customers of the proposed change.

I used to have BT broadband quiet a while ago, moved to Virgin. Was informed by BT that If I wanted to keep my BT email address a monthly charge would be made and it was , something like £1-60 per month. Decided to have Virgin and BT (worked out good for BT Sports) so not being charged seperately for BT e mail address now.
Right - after two hours of going round in circles between BT Talk Talk online and by phone to Rupinder in New Delhi and being given the same number to ring each time which then gave me the other number I have finally signed up for BT Premium Mail after having to change my email password, which although costs £1.60 a month is actually free for the first 12 months. Not sure what happens then, but who cares - I will deal with that when it happens.
Hi lankeela.......I'll try to find where BT has said that a minimum of one month will apply to the £1.60 charge, before discontinuation of your E/mail address.
In the meanwhile, as you can have 12 months for free, you have the right attitude.....^^^^" Not sure what happens then, but who cares - I will deal with that when it happens".
