NJ Also, younger people are more liberal in their outlook than older folk. Whilst older people may welcome such statements as 'Lenny Henry can go and live in a black country', 'If we shot one poofter etc...', 'gay people don't deserve equal treatment', 'I wouldn't want Romanians living next door to me'...I think that your average 18 to 35 year old would wince...

The main problem for me is the Regional List system - I can't stand at least one of the candidates at/near the top of the list for the party which most closely matches my politics.
Yet I have no way of indicating which of the candidates on the list I actually would wish to be elected.
For that reason I'll be voting Green this time - I like the bloke at the top of their list & would like to see him elected rather than the time-serving apparatchiks of the major parties.

"Its interesting that UKIP's support comes almost entirely from the 40+, and the Greens from the 18-40."
It certainly is interesting, Mikey, but no surprise.
Older people have memories of what the UK was like before the pernicious tentacles of the EU wound around every aspect of their lives; they harp for a return to happier times when the UK and its electorate decided on matters that were important to them.
Younger people have been more recently exposed to the propaganda provided by the state education system that espouses the ludicrous claptrap that the Green Party holds so dear; they have not yet had the time to think for themselves and come to the conclusion that it's a load of cobblers.

Not sure if that worked but if it has, you can see I post on a variety of topics. I am sure that you and the other right-wingers here on AB would be posting these Polls if the Tories were in the front, and I wouldn't blame you for one minute if you did. So why is it wrong for me to do so from a left-wing point of view ? Not very consistent is it ?
Once again, just because the message is distasteful for you, you try shooting the messenger down, again.
And I shall continue to post these Polls for as long as I like and I won't need your OK to do so, nor will I be apologising for so doing !
That goes for AOG and TTT !

Ah Dave...the joys of the "party list" system and other forms of Proportional Representation, all of which place greater emphasis on the needs of political parties than of the voter to choose whom he prefers. Just think, if Mr Clegg had got his way you would be using something similar to elect your MP (or whoever the winning party chose for your constituency) next May.

NJ...your take on why the young are not supporting UKIP is interesting and contains some truth I expect. But could another reason be that they are too young to be carrying around all that old baggage that us oldies tend to carry around ? Perhaps they are looking at things with fresh, unjaded eyes.
But therein lies the rub...its a devil of a job to get young people interested enough to vote for anyone, if my nieces and nephews are anything to do by.

As you can see "the Lucas woman" didn't exactly walk away with a landslide, as both Labour and the Tories were snapping at her heels, But I guess that is democracy for you...terribly inconvenient at times !

But AOG...on this post YOU started it !
I posted this Poll as its less than 48 hours to go and I thought it might be
interesting, as it has been with some people, but not all.
Why are you so nasty most of the time ? Sunny-dave, Ichkeria, Mush and NJ have all made reasonable replies, but not you.... Have you taken your tablet today ?
