Yesterday I was searching google on my samsung galaxy tab s2 9.7 tablet and clicked on one of the results (I think it was the Cityglare site). The following page appeared:
The page at ydlutkwiir.xyz says:
ATTENTION! Your Motorola XT321 may be outdated! Internet use will be slow and limited if you do not update your system. Click OK and follow the instructions to continue using your Motorola XT321.
I didn't click on it but closed down all open programs and switched off.
Has anyone else had this happen and if so how did they resolve it please?
Now when I try to access the Internet on it the same page appears (am using a different tablet for this post). I downloaded Avira Antivirus but a scan did not come up with anything.
I had not downloaded anything yesterday before this problem arose, as far as I can remember.
Hi. I've had this on my Samsung too. Open up your tablets settings, choose app, go to the app for your browser, click on it and it will have some options (like force stop) underneath that you should see a storage option. Click on storage a delete the cache. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Good luck
You probably need to edit your browser settings- you should be able to change the home page back or change the default search engine back to whatever it was. On a laptop running malwarebytes might help too but I'm not sure about galaxy tabs
Thanks Fiction-factory but google was the default search engine and still is - it's just that it opens at the offending page and won't let me open another.
I was hoping that someone in AB's vast membership might have encountered the same situation, albeit they may have been using a different brand of tablet.
As a last ditch solution would restoring the device to its factory setting eliminate the problem please?
