I have a hard drive from my old laptop (40GB) which contains around 12GB of music.
This music is divided almost equally between that which I have downloaded via fileshare programs and that which I have uploaded onto iTunes via the import function i.e. it is mainly my CD collection on iTunes plus a small amount of files which I have paid for and downloaded.
On the old laptop I had a password set up on XP, and having taken the hard drive out the password was still set up on the drive when I accessed it via a caddy.
I took it to a data recovery specialist who retrieved most of the data (that which I had downloaded) but I still cannot access the iTunes data.
I am aware that it should be held in the My Documents/MyFolders/iTunes/iTunes Libraries which is present on the drive and I can open it but it contains no data (or at least appears not to).
However, when clicking "properties" on the right-click menu on the drive in My Computer, the difference between the drive's capacity and the remaining free space can only be accounted for by the iTunes library.
