How do I back-up the windows registry? I came across this: 'In RegEdit choose Registry, Export Registry File. When the dialog box opens, select the radio button labeled All and name your file RegBack. Click Save to create the Registry file and close the dialog box'. I have done this - is this sufficient to allow piece of mind (I want to alter a 'key')?
Have you checked microsoft knowledge base - its nevere 'safe' editing the registry but providing the key isn't relating to the OS it should be fine.
Disclaimer - I can accept no responsibility for any errors or system problems that may occur.
yes it is. and to be doubly sure open up the .reg file in notepad - the export is a clear-text list of instructions (as you will see when you open it in notepad)
