Formatting DVD RW disks
1 Answers
I've just today needed to use some re-writable DVDs and tried to format them to get rid of the data I put on them last year. InCD goes through the formatting routine, but when it gets to the end the PC crashes and reboots itself. When it boots up I get the following message on screen:
The system has recovered from a serious error.
A log of this error has been created
Please tell Microsoft about this problem
We have created an error report that you can send...
the following files will be included in this error report
C:\DOCUME~1\MRWILS~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb764.dir00\Mini061208-05.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\MRWILS~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERb764.dir00\sysdata.xml
These files don't seem to exist, the folder within the temp folder is just not there. Anyway I guess these 2 files will only make sense to the guys at Microsoft when you press the button to send the info.
I used to be able to use RW disks, but that was probably with my LiteOn drive which died. I've now got a Samsung Writemaster SH-S182D which should do the job according to the TSST website specs page.
Has anybody got any ideas please?
Incidentally from My Computer the properties show just a blue disk with 0bytes used and 0bytes total.
