aol won`t install on new vista pc
hi all, hope someone can help.have just bought a new hp desktop pc running vista home premium sp1.my problem is aol will not connect,it gets to the check password stage then just hangs,mi then get error 47 ac oooo & ox90000000. i use a netgear dg834 modem router if that helps.my internet explorer works fine.i have looked on google for the error codes and found a few hits, mcaffe seem to think it needs a big adjustment to the registry, but i don`t have mcaffe.so far i`ve spent about 4 hrs on the phone to the idiots at aol total waste of time as they say we have tried all there is to try.so if anyone can help i would be eternally grateful.please dont suggest i try a different isp as my wife knows her way round aol like the back of her hand, and does`nt want another isp.PLEASE HELP.

Sounds like you have a corrupted copy of VR its possible that the part of the program that recognises the password has not installed correctly. It could be a problem with either Vista or AOL. I would try to get hold of another copy of AOL or try to install the standard AOL and run the update once you connect. if this doesnt work my advice would be to contact AOL. This must be a problem they have come across before as they have an error code for it.
One other thing try entering the settup page of your router as you may have to reset the password within the router itself. If you dont know how to get into the router settings then AOL helpdesk should be able to access it remotely and reset the password from their end. I know they can do this as I had to reset the password but couldnt remember how to access the setting page so they talked me through it. The settings page is accessed from an IP address that you would type in instead of a web addy
