AVG V Mcaffee
I currently use the free AVG version 8 as my anti virus software, however I have just had O2 broadband which offers free Mcaffee anti virus software. Which should I choose and why?

Is the McAfee JUST anti virus or is it a full security suite?
Personally I pay nothing for PC security and use free AVG and free AVAST for anti virus (different PCs), and ZoneAlarm for firewall.
Plus WinPatrol and Adaware for extra security.
I dont pay for any of them.
btw You will probably find the McFree is "free" for a limited time then you will have to pay for it, I am sure it wont be free forever.

Vehelpfulguy is right. When McAfee is installed on a new PC it is only a one month trial. Get rid of it and install AVG.
What I find arrogant about McAfee is that it can't be straight-forwardly uninstalled.
Download the "McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool" to remove it:

It was incredibly annoying when we got a delivery of new Dell laptops at work, I had to go to each and every one of them and get rid of McAfee.

buy a mac, that way you don't need any virus protection! Just kiddin, I am a mac owner, but also a fan of windows...
Thing I think is that when you're offered something as part of say, a broadband package, they are just trying to make money. They don't give a dam if you're protected or not, they are just in it for the money, so as a rule of thumb never take them up on their offer.
AVG is a great little peace of kit, and as mentioned above in the other posts, when used with other products such as zonealarm, you can't go wrong. I paid for zone alarm and virus scanner (which i think is powered by avg but may be wrong) for like 20 if that, and never looked back since.
