Wii + internet

We are trying to set up the Wii with the internet, but the error code says the router is not compatable. Talk talk say it is, but some of the staff didn't know what a Wii was! Has anyone got any ideas before I cancel the contract? Thanks

how are you trying to connect to the router? wireless or through a LAN adapter?
