Answers to Answerbank questions

I no longer get alerts when questions have been answered.
Is this to do with this Windows 8 Mail which came with the wretched Vista?

No....AB doesn't send out emails unless you subscribe to the question.

I don't know why you should have to subscribe to your own question.

To receive the email. I didn't want all the emails so this way works better for me.

sure, but you used to be able to switch off the email. Wouldn't the default setting be that you DID want to see an answer to your question?
