Did anyone see the moon this morning [around 06:15 - 07:00] in Sussex that is? Sure I didn't imagine it, but it was a pale yellow colour, very low on the horizon and had a red ring which was almost neon like all the way round the circuference. is this normal?
You may have seen Moondogs, (similar to Sundodgs), which are caused by high altitude ice crystals which reflect/refract light to cause a halo effect in a ring shape. The rising sun probably caused the red ring in this instance.
