What Happens To Facebook After You Die?

Dear All,

This question was sprung into my mind from this: http://www.theanswerb...s/Question994133.html

What happens to a Facebook account when you become an ex-facebooker? Can you transfer your farmville livestock out to your family & friends? Could you make notice in your will that Auntie Dorine should not be in receipt of any farmville land because of what she once said about our Shirley at Dianne & Tom's wedding?

And, more seriously, what about for those people who want to keep the account open as a monument to that person? It is certainly better than roadside flowers - but still creepy.

Any spurious information or cold-hard speculation is welcome.

Personally I don't think Dris was being patronising. People often skim through a thread so she probably missed the comments. It does go to show you how sensitive a subject death and grief is.

Lots of things upset me on AB zzxxee. I don't do what Dris did though. We all know Dris went through grieving, but so have many of us. Good grief, people would be apologising all day on here if we had to apologise about everything we post that might upset someone.

Whoops, I returned to the thread!!
if you think about how different in this country we deal with grief than say 60 years ago?
woman wore black veils to funerals (think of the footage of the queens fathers death) we quietly mourned people in a dignified way.
Now we deal with things much more openly is this generally a good thing do you think ?.

No, sorry Zzxxee. This isn't how it works.

Ummm, if you "skim" through a thread on death & grief and make assumptions it's probably best you don't post. A gentle hand is needed with this stuff - this is not what Dris offered.

point taken Loftie i just dont like reading that people are upset and crying
ok ed fair do as i said to loftys comment i just dont like reading that people are upset thats all.
zzxxee - Why would someone post that anyway?

But then we are all different.

lessons to be learned by all then it seems x

I think huge public outpourings of grief are more to do with people caught up in a sort of mass hysteria zzxxee and less about actually feeling grief. I can only use Dianna as an example. How much of this was actual grieving!

I do believe that we should surpress true grief though, but we should understand that some people just keep their grief to themselves but can actually be hurting very much . I am actually one of these people which doesn't make me cold and unfeeling -far from it.
"I do believe that we should surpress true grief though" Sorry, meant to say 'shouldn't'!!
Dianas public mass grieving was immense
i think i read somewhere silent movie star Rudolph Valantino had the highest ever mass of people lining the streets at the funeral procession. Why?
nobody knew him, why do you think people get so emotionally wrapped up in people they dont know?.
''Dianas public mass grieving was immense''

Yes... but how genuine?
Just seems to be the thing nowadays zzxxee. Shouting and screaming and wailing everywhere!! People just used to clap and laugh and TV shows and now they scream and shout . Personally it drives me mad.
Exactly Snags.

It had nothing to do with grieving in my opinion!!
I barely cried at my Dads funeral.....the days before....and a long long time after I was inconsolable. Not on the day though...
i suppose we are more vocal on a lot of things nowadays yes x
I wasnt having a pop at anyone at all.
The thinking behind what I posted was -lets accept others way of grieving but not question it if its not what you would do personally.
Being patronising about anyones personal choice of grieving would be insulting and I can assure anyone who has commented that it wouldnt ever occur to me to do that. That is the reason i was upset.
I feel my post was misread and I dont think its fair to comment on me personally as I didnt with anyone else nor would I.
Thats all I can say -but dont please read anything else into what ive posted as I have no agenda -certainly not to cause hurt to anyone.
I only skimmed 'Farmville' btw.
