MAC code problems
3 Answers
Hi all.
I recently called my isp [demon] and asked for my mac code as i wanted to switch to another isp. when i eventually got it from them, i then gave it to my new isp who i chose, but the person at the other end did it wrong, and set up a 10GB monthly allowance for me instead of unlimited. That then had to be cancelled, and set up again. The origional mac code was then rejected due to being used wrongly before, so they told me they needed a new one. So i called Demon up again and they said I could not have a new one for a month.
Is this right and if so why can't they give me a new one? i need to get this sorted :-(

Eh....
the MAC code enables them to transfer the DSL service to them, once that's done they don't need another MAC code (or to reuse the first one, which isn't possible)
The new provider is already the provider, they just need to change the service level, they do not need another MAC code.

Your new provider was given the Mac code from your old provider. If the new provider has changed your code then by law they have to provide you with your current mac code. It's out of the old providers hands now. It's your new providers problem to deal with and They can't refuse to give you your current mac code, alot of providers will try theie best to avoid giving you it or even tell you a false one. But make sure when you speak to them you know it's law that they have to provide you with the code. The reason they don't like giving it people is because they can change there provider if they have that code.
