I must say that I prefer the following:
1. BMI
Clinical impression – thin, acceptable weight, overweight. Obvious wasting (very thin) and obesity
(very overweight) can also be noted.
2. Unplanned weight loss
Clothes and/or jewellery have become loose fitting (weight loss).
History of decreased food intake, reduced appetite or swallowing problems over 3-6 months and
underlying disease or psycho-social/physical disabilities likely to cause weight loss.
3. Acute disease effect
Acutely ill and no nutritional intake or likelihood of no intake for more than 5 days.
The above from your link is more my style.
Good luck anyway.

Sqad, times are a changing! We currently sit down and work this out every month and hand write it in a care plan, the average care plan is about 70 pages, all of which needs updating monthly. I have nearly completed getting every care plan onto the PC which makes everything so much easier, this is just another way of having a lot of information at my fingertips of every resident in my care.

The results of this M.U.S.T tool could then lead us into the Waterlow score tool. http://www.judy-water...uk/waterlow_score.htm

Have a look at the above for a start (it's a bit quick and dirty at the moment and will return errors if you enter an incorrect value anywhere.)
Basically look on sheet one, you need to fill in the sex of the patient using just the letters M or F and the ulna length in cm rounding it to the nearest .5 of a CM in cells B1 and B2. this will cause a table on sheet two to be referenced and give you the correct result in cell B4
the data in the table was taken from the table here using just the figures for male and females over 65.

there may be easier ways to do this, so if anyone else wants to take a crack at it please go ahead.

Sorry for the delay in getting back, had to do some properwork...damn it!
Chucks looks good... here is another version of it. It just uses the calculation from the .pdf that was posted on page 1. It's a little bit neater to follow but does the same.

Hi Ratter or Chuck or Johne - I am looking for a similar solution for a different problem. Can you please provide the link to the excel sheet you prepared for calculation height from ulnar length. many thanks. If you want the reason why I need it happy to explain but it is a bit too complex.
Thanks in advance
