My wife has had different can openers over the years but all have been so good for a while, then become hard work. So she has asked me to ask on Answer bank for some one to recomend a decent one to buy next.
Don't get me wrong she is a good cook and is not opening tins very often but just now and then.
Thanks

I had a german-designed one for over twenty years. It just had a spike and a lever-handle. It came from Woolworths. You forced the spike into the top of the can and levered the spike round the can-top. I replaced it with a similar one, which just has "CK" as the manufacturers' (?) name and "made in W. Germany" which tells you how old it is.
It also has a hook for removing crown caps.
There's nothing to go wrong.
In have been using the old 'butterfly' hand-operated type usually made by Squires for many years now. I find that if you sharpen the cutter blade a little they work better with less effort.
