owing to being stuck in hospital, my .ovely husband bought in my laptop and got me a vodaphone p&G dongle. The GB usage seems to be being used quite fast. I am currently running ie7 which allows you to have mpre than 1 home page - i have 3, but can obv on;y use one at a time. Am i using my allowance up quicker by having 3 p[ages open, despite the fact im not on the other 2?

You need Firefox .. or something like that .. and store Google as home page while there.
Any active content will use constant bandwidth .. yes.
Try to set up offline webpage storage. That will help.
Use an addon like Flashblock and modify the host file as shown here .. easy to do. That will stop the browser downloading junk all the time.

I have an O2 dongle. £15 for 2 GB or thirty days, which is more than enough for my deeds as I very rarely download. PAYG is a bit of a misnomer as unlike a mobile phone, if you don't use the allowance within the allotted time span it disappears. Funnily enough, last Friday I had 300MB left but on Saturday morning I had none. I realised that the thirty days were up so topped up again and was credited with 2.3 GB, which looked as though the 300MB I had lost had been mysteriously restored.
