I tend to leave my PC on all the time, occaisionally re-starting it. Is this OK ? or is it best to shut it down when i've finished using it ?

It is true that if it does get too warm it can slow down but as long as its in a well ventilated area and has a good circulation of air around it then there is no problems with it being on.
Its also true that starting and closing down can have a negative effect on a pc. More hdd alone die at this stage, more gfx cards blow at this stage and more power packs refuse to start at this stage.
