I have recently joined a dating site & I need to upload a picture of myself for a profile picture. Problem is that all of the photos I have of me on my comp are of me in a group. The site does seem to have a photo cropping option, but the several times I have tried this the newly cropped pic doesn't show up, when I click on my profile it shows the group shot.

Is there anything I can do on my comp to crop the pic down before uploading to the said site?
Thanks.

You've probably got some suitable software on your computer already but, rather than trying to guess what you might have, I'll suggest downloading and installing Irfanview. (It's an excellent, free image-viewing and manipulation program, which deserves a place on everyone's computer):

Open a group photo in Irfanview. Click with your mouse at the top-left corner of the area you wish to select. Keep the button held down while you drag to the bottom-right corner. (You'll see your selected area framed by a rectangle on your screen). Go to Edit > Crop Selection. Then go to File > Save As, to save your cropped image with a new name.

IrfanView .. The King : )
absolutely irfanview
Yah for Irfanview. It should be part of Windows.
You can also use Paint to crop a picture. Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint. Irfanview is a lot more powerful and worth downloading.

Thanks Chris & everyone else for your answers, appreciate it. :)

I have now uploaded a picture took a bit of working out, but got there in the end. :)

Thanks all.
Sorry to disagree Chris, but I find `Picasa3` is just as good, and can do the same cropping, and very easy.
