When I put a cd in my computer, I get saying a message saying "Blank CD", which isn't true because they are music ones that I've bought in the shop, and they play ok on my separate cd player. How can I test the cd in my computer? TIA.

Does it work with any CDs at all?

and do you have any bootable CDs to see if you can boot from them (a windows CD if you have one)

CD drives do go faulty quite often.
Replace drive if still failing after uninstalling in Device Manager and rebooting.
Probably duff.
they are also very prone to dust/dirt etc. if it isnt used on a regular basis..we have 10+ Pcs at work and not one of the CD drives work without a good blow out with an airline !!! even then we use an external drive to be on the safe side
