You've pressed the wireless switch by mistake and switched off your wireless network card.
If you are not using wireless at the moment then it will make no difference, if you want to use wireless then it won't work until you switch it on again. the wireless switch is often a little (fairly well hidden) switch on the outside of the case somewhere, or...

If you can't find it post the model of the dell.

Dell Inspiron 1545 anymore info? runs window 7, and its been a damn nuisance for the last week, i lose the connection to AB, IE8 box comes up, saying not secure? and goes, then pops back up almost immediately. I wondered where we were trying to stop using the ethernet cable, went into the admin programme, changed something by mistake. It all started when the wireless router went down, it wasn't just a switch it all off and start again, but a whole rigmarole with the ISP to get it back. Agghhhh
Chuckfickens, i had to go into programme, and did as you said, tried both FN, F2, first, then just F2 and now its no longer disabled. Mucho gracias
now for the other problems. I am not au fait with computing, and when the router went down, then brain freeze. I wouldn't have a clue how i disabled it.
