For starters do you have a sound card or is is on the motherboard? secondly what operating system are you using? Win7/Linux etc? Thirdly are you using external sound or do you mean the computer internal speaker?
Assuming you mean an external amp, ensure all the plugs are in the correct sockets, usually colour coded.
Second assuming Windows, from the control panel, go to sounds and ensure the default is set to the device you want to use, also ensure the audio settings for the software have the volume up.

It might be that you should have a Packard Bell screen, in other words, the screen ought be electronically compatible with the computer. I had the same problem with my Hewlett Packard Compaq computer and my Philips screen. I bought a pair of external speakers, plugged them in, and I got sound. The on-screen instructions for my computer talk about adjusting the sound, and I have a little speaker icon on my screen, so it looks as if I could get sound if my screen was a Hewlett Packard model.
