Why, when I ask a queastion in Ask.com, do I not get an answer but a list of websites trying to flog me stuff? My impression of Ask.com was that you could type a question and get the answer. It appears that all it is, is another search engine. Even at the top of AB it says "New and Improved Ask Jeeves." I fail to see what's so new and improved about an 'answer' site that finds exactly the same websites as something like Google or Yahoo.

Purely for information...

Until about three or four years ago, the Ask Jeeves organisation had two separate answering-systems. The 'robotic' and not very effective one that still exists and one identical to AnswerBank today...ie a site where real people - just like us - answered questions posed. The none-too-bright managers decided to throw away the good half and keep the bad! Bear in mind that nothing lasts forever and this site that we are all addicted to might just disappear, too, one day!
