Uploading pictures from phone to laptop
13 Answers
I have a Nokia 6303 classic phone and I cannot find out how to transfer the pictures I have taken to my laptop (Acer Aspire 5315 on Vista).
I have a USB connecting cable, but nothing happens when I connect it to the camera.
I have looked through the owners booklet, but cannot find any mention as to how I should do this.
I feel that it should be a simple task and I am probably missing something.
Any help would be much appreciated. TIA

"You can use the USB data cable to transfer data between the phone and a compatible PC or a printer supporting PictBridge.
To activate the phone for data transfer or image printing, connect the data cable and select the mode:
PC Suite — to use the cable for Nokia PC Suite
Printing & media — to use the phone with a PictBridge compatible printer or with a compatible PC
Data storage — to connect to a PC that does not have Nokia software and use the phone as data storage
To change the USB mode, select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > USB data
cable and the desired USB mode."
So, assuming that you don't have the Nokia PC Suite installed, select the Data Storage mode, and it will appear as an external disk drive.

Thanks a lot everyone for trying to help me, but I am afraid I have had no success, as yet.
What I have done is sent for a microSD card reader off ebay and hope that works. I use a SD card reader to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer, and that works quite well, so I am keoing my fingers crossed

This sometimes works when a computer won't recognise a USB device (but I've not got a clue as to why it does!):
Plug in the USB device.
Turn off the computer
Remove the power cord.
Depress the power button for 10 seconds.
Plug the power cord back in.
Boot the computer.
Remove the USB lead.
Plug the lead back in again.
