i have recently installed norton anti virus instead of my previous company one.
however to my annoyance at the moment, every time i switch the computer on it does a complete scan and slows everything up. i cant find anywhere (unlike my previous one) where you can set a day, week and time for it to come on automatically. anyone got any ideas. thanks

Just from personal experience and a few other mates that work in IT, it was forever and a day updating and installing and reinstalling update after update - you couldnt get on doing stuff on the pc, it was way too time consuming for us, once you logged on you needed an hour to let norton do its thing.
Hi Boxtops - sorry, but I've no time for Norton. It actually writes itself into many of your applications, and has more conflict problems than most.
Google Norton problems OR Remove Norton and be very afraid <]:-)
I use AVG, which is free, and has never given any hassle.
Still, as they say, one man's meat is another man's Norton...

But you clearly do not know enough about Pc's and antivirus protection .. and history. Why pass on this heresay like gossip?
It is no problem to uninstall .. Since 2010, it will uninstall in about 2 minutes on XP or 7. Prior to this date, one needed a removal tool to get everything off.
NAV is around £14-18 per annum covering up to 3x PC's. online.
