Laptop connection

My wife has a laptop that she seldom uses and since the last time I've had two changes of ISP and router for my other computer Can someone please tell me how to "tune" into my existing set up?Thanks!!!

I just don't seem able to get onto the internet although I get notified that there is a connection to the router by the laptop.This router was supplied by my ISP talktalk.Is there some setting I might have to do to it or is it possible that it won't accept an outside piece of software????
ps the PC goes online ok!!! Thanks!!
