What happened to their upgrade?

It went to a black box down the left a while ago, but has reverted to the previous format now.

Mine changes every 4 or 5 days....I hate the box and change to Google.com until it goes away.

One of Google's appeals to me has always been the fresh clean home page, uncluttered by ads and unnecessary stuff.

The new big black box on the left is too intrusive, so I am happy if it has gone already.

Like it, Chuck. Excellent.
Top-right of your Google Homepage is a cogwheel icon.
Click it and select iGoogle
Bottom left corner of the page that then shows there is a link called Classic Homepage Click it
Fixed

I presume this setting is stored in a cookie so if you clear cookies, it may revert to what you don't want.

Your answer made sense, and I remember seeing a cogwheel.

However in their latest version of the homepage, there is no cogwheel.
Here is the link for you then.

That goes to the normal homepage.

iGoogle appears as an option at bottom left now, but no option for a classic homepage.

They seem to offer a chance to 'build your own homepage' which I may do at some time.

Thanks for your help gen2
