iPad question

If I got an iPad, would I need to download/buy all the apps I have on my iPhone from iTunes again specifically for iPad? I assume I would unless I'm mistaken.
So then would my games on eg. Words With Friends sync so I could continue the same game on the two different devices?

iPhone apps can work on iPads- you need use iCloud and synch youphoneand iPad (but I can't tell you how to do it as it always takes me ages), good luck.
