This started yesterday & is a pain in the jacksie, quite frankly.
Can anyone actually offer any help?
Sorry if that's a bit ratty, but I'm not feeling very friendly right now...

That isn't the point, mike - Hotmail was working fine yesterday morning & should be working now. I want to know how to fix it, not simply pretend the problem doesn't exist.
I've always used Hotmail & am used to it - why should I have to get accustomed to using another system?
I shouldn't have to, it's that simple.

L-i-K, when you say that you don't get the "Page error" message but are unable to perform any further actions, do you mean that these actions are disabled in some way? Do you see emails in your inbox? What happens when you hover your mouse over them? Does the cursor change to a pointer? What happens when you try to open one of the emails?
Hi Mark - I can see my Inbox & new emails are being added ok. I can put a tick in boxes & hovering the cursor will show the envelope, X, flag symbols, but the floating description of these doesn't appear as usual.
The only thing on the whole page that works on clicking is the 'Sign Out', top right, under my name.

Mark Rae - I'm betting that my issue is the same as others so here's the story. Hotmail opens and displays all emails in my inbox and we know that by default, it should open the first e-mail in the inbox in your reading pane, but it doesn't. When I hover my mouse over any one of those emails, I get the pointer hand. When I click an email to open it in my reading pane it doesn't open at all. It always just says "Done" in the status bar. If I try to open a folder, it's the same issue....I get the pointer hand but when I click the folder doesn't open. Maybe that will help you to help us? I'm somewhat technical but can't figure out what could be wrong.
Hmm, well, I'm wondering if this could be caused by your anti-malware software. I've come across similar situations in the past (though not for several years) with similar symptoms. Basically, some anti-malware injects JavaScript into every web page and, if there is an error in this, chances are no JavaScript will work further down the page. Changing a cursor's pointer is a JavaScript function, so it might be that.
Ordinarily, I would never advise anybody to turn off their anti-malware but you might like to try it temporarily to see if that is in fact the issue.
What do you use? AVG, Avast, MSE, Norton, Kaspersky (surely not!)...

I've just realised that the 'Profile' button also works & if I click that, then 'Hotmail - Inbox' from there, clicking an email causes the tab to 'rollover', but it doesn't open the email. Does that make sense?
I've got MSE, SpyBot & AdAware , all up to date & all ran clean.
I'll try turning everything off...

MarkRae - I'm actually checking my hotmail from work and I know we use TrendMicro and I'm sure that that protects us against anti-malware too. Regardless, I can't turn it off. I do get some errors via IE....the first one is "'$Utility' is undefined"; the second one "object doesn't support this property or method; third one "'e' is null or not an object". Does that help?
