Switch over

Since the start of the switch over to digital, I have lost the BBC programmes. I have retuned my freeview box with no result. All other channels seem fine at the moment. The freeview box is quite old. Is this likely to be my problem.?

Some areas of the UK will not be completed until the end of the year.....Are you still able to receive BBC as Analogue channels.?....If so the switchover has not been completed.

Methinks we're entitled to licence free tv. Try my method but I've yet to find BBC1 on Freeview so I added an extra cable.

Hi sunny-dave.....You may recall my having said that I wished I could get BBC 2 (England) as an alternative addition to BBC 2 (Wales). You did suggest looking for channels in 800 plus, but, just like tamborine,I cannot get signals that far up the channel list.
There is no doubt that different areas of the UK are subjected to different 'Freeview' channels.
As regards mintymow's problem, it does seem to be that, unfortunately, she will have to wait for completion of 'change-over'. Hopefully, then all will be well, because if her digi-box is working for most channels, I cant see that it requires the purchase of a new one.

mintymow......I am still thinking about your present position and, whilst I am far from on expert on such matters, a thought has come to mind.
Do you have a 'Channel Guide' button on your remote control. If so, a press of that could reveal a list of all channels to which your digi-box is tuned. You may then see (at the start of the list) BBC channels still listed and, whilst they could still be analogue ones, you should be able to scroll and click onto them, press OK (or Enter) and possible obtain the desired channel.
Best of luck......Ron.

I have 2 freeview boxes in my house one which works fine and the other which has lost most of the BBC channels like yours. After doing a lot of research I have discovered that when freeview was invented there were several types but only 1 version, the 8K type, is suported by the swichover. One of my boxes is an old 2K model. The 2K system is being switched off along with analogue tv. The only warning you get for this is the fact that most of the bbc channels will not work with your freeview at the first stage of swichover. On the second stage none of your channels will work. I found out it is in the smallprint on the swichover website. I found it along with the list of unsuported old products. http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/home
Some people have 2K freeview built into their TV and not a separate box like you and me and they are realy up the creak. You will not get compenstaed for this and need to buy a new freeview box before the final swichover. Sorry for the bad news

I may be wrong but I believe the advice from the last comments is not going to work as it seems from your description of the problem that you have a 2K box
