Afternoon,

I used to quite like Firefox. But with the recent caching issues we've been having, and it's new found ability to grind to a halt and steal ALL available memory I'm at a point where I am seriously considering uninstalling it entirely. If it wasn't for the 15% of you who use it on here, I would!

Recently the problems have got really bad with me closing a tab and the label and tab disappearing, but the space where it was remaining. I have a gap-toothed Firefox.

Anyone else want to moan about FF?

Chrome has its issues, but it does have this advantage: https://chrome.google...cnhoeaanfpkfachlfclli

I can deal with FF on here, but on Deviant Art it persistently insists I don't have the latest FF ( which I do) and refuses to let me do anything. I have to use Chrome on that, which since it's a site I'm quite frequently on ticks me off a bit. I'm hoping they sort it out quickly because I only have so much patience however good it's been in the past.

Vista on the laptop and windows 7 on the desktop, never had trouble using AB with any of them.
DOH, yes of course it is.
From AB Editor
"Isn't IE8 the latest version for XP?"
In that case back to my question-is there anything to be gained by updating?
Using the latest browser is always best for security reasons.

Yes, you may cure the headaches of some of our development staff :)

IE8 is generally a little bit quicker and more compatible than IE7.

Nothing to add at this stage to what I have already said:-

I stopped using Firefox a few days ago and am now using Chrome.
The nature of this site promotes Safari because of the mobile users.

I heard the other day that, globally, Chrome is now the top browser followed by Firefox then IE.

I don't have any trouble uding IE8. On a 256K connection the speed of the browser is not the main factor affecting performance anyway.
beso....It seems to be the case.:-

G'afternoon Ed......Just a few thoughts which you are at liberty to ignore.:-)

You have asked a questions which appears to have been overlooked by others...."Isn't IE8 the latest version for XP?" Correct, as far as a non techie as I can make out, from what I have read on the internet.

You have also indicated that in AB you are restricted to using Windows XP, which must be about 10yr old. Furthermore, you have suggested that folk should keep their Browsers up-dated for security.

Come on Ed...get the office sorted out.:-)

Ed....I feel it is important for me to add a further comment.

If I am a pain in the posterior it could be a way of disposing of me, without a banishment, by merely prohibiting Firefox users from being able to access AB.

Although Google Chrome now seems to have the top spot for Browsers, I still prefer Firefox, and, whilst FF12 is causing problems for ABers, it's not long to wait for FF13. In the meanwhile I am sticking with trouble free FF11 and will continue to do so if there are problems with FF13.

Ron.
