Microphone

Hi, i have always used microphones on my comptuer but recently they haven't been working. i have tried several different microphones that have always worked for me but they don't work. i'm thinking that it might be some configuration on my computer but i don't know what it should be configured to. anyone know? it is just a standard microphone hole. thanks in advanced

Give this a try.

Open Volume Controls from your taskbar and see if the Microphone volume is far enough up or that it is not muted.

If you can't see the microphone volume then from the Volume Controls, select Options then Properties and make sure the Microphone is checked.

Recently I installed a program on my PC that turned the volume down to zero. I had my PC in pieces to see if the sound card was faulty before realising!
