Can anyone advise what to do with an oversensitive touchpad on my acer aspire 5742Z. It's about a year old and only just started to do this a few weeks ago, it's almost impossible to type into any website without the cursor jumping about all over the place, sometimes does it when typing documents as well. I can disable it and use a mouse instead which is not convenient as using a mouse causes me to have repetitive strain in my neck. I understand it is a problem for other users, but haven't yet come across any solution. I am absolutely not accidentially touching it as I type, I have been a touch typist for many years and it is exceedingly frustrating to have to type at the pace of a snail to avoid this happening.

basics first. With the computer switched off, give the touchpad a thorough clean.

thanks for the link, unfortunately the instructions on this link bring up different settings for the mouse properties that the link gives - have given it a good clean to no avail

have searched no end of web-pages, most of which direct me to the mouse properties. In the end the touchpad is called something else and have reduced the sensitivity but no luck unfortunately. It appears to have to either be so sensitive that the cursor jumps about all over the place, or so un-sensitive it it very hard work making it move at all. Have now lost the will to live with it and am using an external mouse and having to put up with the neck problem.
