I’m looking to record the streaming footage of the Olympic torch for about 30 mins next week. What do I need, please?

you could use some free software called Debut video capture

http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

even if it has a problem recording the data stream, you can still use it to do a screen capture.
