norton internet security
my internet security subscription runs out soon, so I need to renew it or upgrade to the new 2005 version. But I heard the new one might crash ur PC because is such a big file and the program is quite new. Has anyone tried the 2005 version?
I found the norton still let viruses and things in, does this happen to anyone else?
I was told u dont need to renew the subscription, just use it without the updates, is it true?

I am running Norton Internet Security 2003 and have just renewed it. I have used it for several years and have no problems and no viruses. This is the one I would recommend. I have heard on the grape vine that 2005 is not that good, just look at the tech support on the symantec web site. You need to do regular updates and scans. You can use the software without updating but this will only protect you for about a week or two. A valid upto date virus software is a must if you are using the internet.
I used to have Norton but they kept asking me for money to upgrade so I didn't. If you read the Daily Telegraph newspaper they are continually recommending AVG virus checker - it has the great advantage of being free! It works perfectly for me and the upgrade facility automatically kicks in each day to see if there are any new upgrades - if there are, it automatically downloads and installs them.
I highly recommend it - just do a search in Google for ABG anti virus - the home site is www.grisoft.com
