I have downloaded mystart.incredibar.com (accidentally) and I want to remove it.

I've been onto Add/Remove Programs in the control panel I and can't see it there, but it keeps appearing every time I switch the computer on and I don't seem to be able to delete it.

Please could anyone advise me how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

PS: I am using Windows XP and Google Chrome (don't know if that's relevant as my knowledge of computing is very basic).

Hi windywillow - the following link seems to be quite helpful -

http://botcrawl.com/h...ch-redirection-virus/

Don't use their link for Malwarebytes, it directs you to the "Pro" version, which you don't need. Instead, get the free version from here -

HTH, but if not, I'm sure a real techie will be along soon :-)

Thanks very much L-i-K, I'll have a look at that now.
I just click on 'View', choose 'Toolbars' and add/remove as required.
Sorry, I should have added that (in case you hadn't noticed) the 'wrench' (spanner) icon in Chrome is now shown as 3 horizontal bars

Thanks very much L-i-K and ttfn. I'm not sure how I've managed it but it's gone now (fingers crossed). I think I went into Google Chrome settings and selected 'Google' on start up. Or something like that.

I suspect it's still lurking somewhere on my computer, but at least I can't see it now.
I think it might be worth your while downloading & running the free Malwarebytes - it can't hurt, at least :-)

I have Microsoft Security Essentials, should I run that instead of downloading something? Just wondering if they will clash.

I'm worried about downloading as that is what got me into bother with this toolbar thing. I was trying to put a christmas hat on a picture of mine and downloaded a program that said it would help me to do that. Instead I ended up having a nightmare time with the computer. I should've known that I don't know enough about the computer to dabble with downloading. :o(

Thanks for help, much appreciated. x

Noooooooooo! The damned thing's come back! :0(
M'soft Security Essentials & Malwarebytes check for different things & won't clash.

The link in my 1st post is safe - make sure you click the "Free" Version ('Download Now')

I downloaded it (clicked on Quick Scan and it took about 20 minutes) - it found 80+ items for removal after scanning thousands (can't remember the exact wording) - I clicked to remove them and yet the toolbar is still there. :o(

Methyl, many thanks for your advice. I've never downloaded a game though - I started having all this trouble after I downloaded a program to help me to put a christmas hat on a picture of mine. I can't remember the name of the program unfortunately.
Hi again, w'willow - now use -

Scroll down to the section headed "Google Chrome" and follow those instructions

Thanks LIK. Now my wifi is going funny - it says I am not connected when I most definitely am.
Hmm - I don't see that the two things can be connected, but as I've hardly ever used a wifi connection, I'm afraid I can't suggest anything helpful for that problem :-(
Question Author
I've tried to follow the instructions but I'm getting hopelessly lost with it.

Think I need to take the computer to the computer shop and ask the engineer to sort it for me.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated. x

With the greatest respect methyl, I don't think your antipathy to all things Google is going to reassure the OP...

w'willow - would it help to try & go through it together?

Click on the '3 bars' icon (top right of a Chrome window)
Hover over 'Tools' (opens 2nd list)
Click 'Extensions'

Do you see any thing in that screen that looks like "incredibar" or "mystart" ?
